Chamber Honors Bob Earnest
Bob Earnest is a lifelong resident of Winfield and a graduate of Winfield High School. He has been an active member of the Winfield Chamber of Commerce for 36 years and has served as a member of the Board of Directors for 14 years.
Bob spent the last 48 years as a local business owner in downtown winfield. His business, the Fashion Shoe Bar, was known by many as the "shoe store on the corner." Bob worked with other local merchants and helped to organize activities and promotions to support the local economy.
Bob was elected to the Winfield City Council and served his fellow citizens as a council member for 18 years. While on the council, Bob served as Mayer Pro-tem for a period of 8 years. he represented Winfield as a member of the Executive Committee of the Alabama League of Municipalities. Bob pursued and completed the requirements to become a Certified Municipal Official.
Bob is an active member and deacon at Winfield First Baptist Church and was married to Earlene Perry Earnest for 65 years before she passed away in November,2010. Bob is the father of one daughter, Sandy. He has two grandsons and four great grandchildren.
Bob wishes to thank the Chamber of Commerce for selecting him as the "Special Honoree" for Mule Day 2011.
Mule Night Madness
Come visit our local merchants for the annual Mule Night Madness Sale on Friday evening. Merchants will be open late with lots of bargains on items in their stores. Come out and "Shop 'til you drop." There will also be a small carnival for the kids.

First Aid Teams sponsored by Marion County EMS will be available in mobile units throughout the event. In case of any emergency call 911 or 487-5001.
Mule Day officials will be throughout the crowd if you have any questions or need help.
Portable restrooms will be located throughout the downtown area.
Handicap parking is available in the City Hall parking lot.
Mule Day T-shirts will be for sale at the Information Booth.
No animals are to be sold in the downtown area.
No horses, mules, or wagons will be allowed off the parade route.
No unauthorized bicycles, motorcycles, go-carts, 4-wheelers, or golf carts will be allowed in the event area.
All vendors will be responsible for collecting 9.00% sales tax. State officials will be at City Hall until 4:00 p.m. to collect the tax or for you to submit your Tax ID Number.
The City of Winfield, Winfield Chamber of Commerce, Mule Day Committees and any civic organization cannot be held responsible for any loss, theft of property, or injury of any kind.
