Lego Club at Winfield Public Library

Hello, all you LEGO builders, it is time to start the LEGO Club! The Winfield Public Library hopes to see you Friday, December 14 @ 3 - 5 pm for our first program; “Building Buildings”. LEGO Club meets once a month at the library. The program is open to children ages 6-12. Members should bring their own LEGOs and can begin their creation at home, work on them during the meeting and then take your finished project back home. The library will have LEGOs available but will remain at the library after the meeting. The library will provide a healthy snack. (Please note any food allergies at signup) Signup is required and limited so call or stop by today!
LEGO clubs allow kids the opportunity to build alongside other kids who love LEGOs. Themed for inspiration, other times, it is just an opportunity to explore the open-ended possibilities of creating with a giant mountain of LEGOs. For more information, call 205-487-2484
*** If you have LEGOs at home that your children have outgrown or no longer use, please consider donating them to the library to give our LEGO clubs more of the raw materials they need***

Connecting Families Project
The Winfield Public Library is hosting the Connecting Families Project – Connecting Alabama Military Men and Women with their families via the internet. It is one of more than a hundred Alabama libraries chosen to take part in “The Connecting Families Project” This project was created through the combined efforts of Governor Bob Riley, the Alabama State Library, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Its goal is to provide computers with broadband capabilities to Alabama public libraries so that military families will be able to talk with their service men and women away from home.
The Winfield library owns a public use Apple computer which has both a microphone and a webcam. The Apple computer is also equipped with a Skype software program which makes it possible for users to talk and see each other for free. Family members will need to call 205-487-2484 or come by the library for more information and to arrange an appointment.
